Cycle Safety on Sandylands and Kirkbarrow

Posted by StreetSafe on April 24, 2009

PC Andy Beard and PC Jan Beard identified local paperboys, papergirls and other young people on the Sandylands and Kirkbarrow estates in Kendal as being vulnerable through not having lights fitted on their bikes.  Some of these young people were not able to buy or be bought this basic equipment to ensure their safety whilst out and about in the early mornings and dark evenings.

The Streetsafe Community Fund ensured that these much needed lights and some security marking equipment could be purchased for the young people who say they feel much safer now whilst out cycling.
